Server/Dietary Aide

Orchard View Gardens by the Mississippi is a privately owned retirement residence located in Almonte. Our home is comprised of seniors at different levels of ability from independent to assisted living to memory care.

We are looking for Servers/Dietary Aides to assist with food preparation and serving of meals. Under the guidance of the Dietary Director, you will provide our residents with a quality dining experience each day by following Orchard View’s established policies and procedures, by knowing individual needs and preferences and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Duties:

• Greet and inform residents of available menu selections.
• Takes orders from the residents and assists them with meal selections if needed.
• Serve meals to residents in a friendly and pleasant manner, while observing special diet restrictions and preferences.
• Assists Cooks to clean and prepare foods as salads, vegetables and fruits.
• Follows basic instructions in preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts and garnishes.
• Proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food.
• Clean and disinfect tables at the end of each meal and reset for next seating.
• Clean and disinfect working stations.
• Helps with dishwashing and put away clean dishes.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in dietary in a retirement home is preferred but not required.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift.
• Must obtain a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Background Check.
• Knowledge of safe food-handling is an asset.
