The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) has aligned with the Globally Harmonized System of Classifications and Labelling Chemicals (GHS). GHS is an international initiative to standardize chemical hazardclassification and communication globally. GHS has been adopted by many of Canada’s trading partners. Suppliers, Employers and Workers will need to be compliant with WHMIS 2015 over a three-year multi-stage transition period. The following e-course through the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) will provide the basics about the impact of these changes for chemical suppliers and employers. Suppliers and employers will gain an appreciation for how they can start to work with WHMIS 2015 so that they can ensure as smooth a transition as possible.
