Personal Support Worker
About the Role
Responsible for the direct primary care of residents within Lanark Lodge through the facilitation of an interdisciplinary approach that promotes quality care to residents.
Lanark Lodge provides 24-hour nursing and personal care services, accommodation, meals, as well as a variety of social and recreational activities. We strive to maintain a resident’s physical abilities which creates a sense of personal well being, and independence. We support our resident’s spiritual care needs and continued connection with their community through our volunteer networks. We are a regulated health care service provider governed by the Fixing Long-Term Care Act (2021) and its supporting Regulations.
Lanark Lodge is accredited through CARF Canada. CARF accreditation is an external peer-review that recognized Lanark Lodge for meeting high standards in quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide bedside and personal care to residents.
2. Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and other aspects of personal hygiene.
3. Answer call signals and respond to residents’ needs promptly and respectfully.
4. Weigh, lift, turn, and position residents safely.
5. Make beds and maintain residents’ rooms.
6. Transport residents by wheelchair or stretcher as required.
7. Serve meal trays and assist with feeding where needed.
8. Supply and empty bed pans and assist with personal care duties.
9. Collect specimens where required.
10. Administer first aid in emergency situations.
11. Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to resident care.
12. Provide companionship and support to residents.
13. Perform other duties related to patient care, comfort, and personal care, consistent with the position.
Schedule
Full-time rotating schedule; day, evening, night, and weekend shifts; overtime may be available.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Completion of a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma program of 3 months to less than 1 year.
2. Personal Support Worker certificate.
3. Experience is an asset.
4. Ability to work on site in a nursing home or home for the aged.
5. Ability to meet all screening and safety requirements for the role.

Work Conditions and Physical Demands
Fast-paced environment, physically demanding work, repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, walking, and a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.

Assets, Not Mandatory
Basic Cardiac Life Support, First Aid, and CPR are assets.
